The Doctor like you've never seen him before!

I am proud to announce that Yes! Cinema, 328 Jackson Str., in Columbus, Indiana will be Whoosier Party Central on Saturday, November 23rd when "Day of the Doctor" will be screened. The Whoosier Network will be on hand to host the show, and plans include a costume contest with cool prizes and awesome doorprizes! The doors will open at 1:30 PM, just in time for "The Name of the Doctor" on the big screen. During commercial breaks after 2:30 PM, we will be drawing doorprizes, so be sure to hang onto your ticketstubs!

At 2:50 PM, "Day of the Doctor" will begin a commercial-free simulcast that is being broadcast around the world. So come the moment, fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a historic adventure with many surprises and Easter eggs for longtime Whovians! Following the show, we'll send out the rest of our doorprizes and present the costume contest! So this is your chance to display your inner Time Lord... or Dalek.

You don't want to miss this Friday's Whoosier Network meeting! Not only will you see a terrific recent Doctor Who episode, "The Rings of Akhaten", but you'll be a part of our first Who-Net music video, "One Who More", a mash-up of Doctor Who and Les Miserables' "One Day More". We encourage all our participants to come in costume (though I will have some Doctor Who T-shirts available if you need one) and prepare to have a great time! There will be another taping session at the June meeting, if necessary, but for the most part we'll be doing group shots this Friday. Also, here's the URL for the music we'll be using, so do familiarize yourself with these.

So much is going on in the next few months here at Who-Net Central it's just crazy. Here's a few updates:

February 24th, 8:00 PM: BBC America's monthly run of classic Doctor Who continues on DOCTOR WHO: THE DOCTORS REVISITED with "The Tomb of the Cybermen", whose re-discovery more than twenty years ago is almost as fascinating as the story itself. Preceding that will be a documentary about Patrick Troughton's time as the Doctor, featuring Frazier Hines, Wnedy Padbury, David Tennant, John Barrowman, and many others.

March 1st, 6:30 PM: The Whoosier Network will convene again at the Life Journey Church, 2950 55th Place, Indianapolis, IN, where our feature presentation will be THE REIGN OF TERROR, the recently reconstructed episode that ended the first full season of DOCTOR WHO. We also want to make mention that we will have available color poster prints of Mark Dooley's "Eleven Doctors" series, including his recently completed David Tennant painting. Along with Tennant, we have available William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy, and a limited number of Matt Smith prints (this particular print is in line for an complete upgrade) They are priced at $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. Coming very soon: Christopher Eccleston and Peter Davison.

YES Cinema, located at 328 Jackson Str. in Columbus, IN (next to the Commons), will present a free screening of The Doctor Who Christmas Special "The Snowmen" at 7:30 PM December 25th. The doors will open at 7:30 PM, and the show will begin at 8:00 PM with a screening of "Angels Take Manhattan", the mid-season finale of Doctor Who, to be followed at 9:00 PM by the Special. While the screening is free, it is requested that you purchase some refreshments at the concession stand, as it helps financially support the free shows.

The Whoosier Network will appear at the show with a display table for memberships, and, along with Doctor Who USA, will be donating several doorprizes in a drawing held after the show. We're also working on holding a costume contest with a great prize for the winner.

Tonight at 9:00 PM EST, I'll be live-blogging in the commentary at my website "De Boss' Bally Blogspot" during the BBC America broadcast of "Asylum of the Daleks". Just check into the header "The Doctor Is In" at www.deboss1.blogspot. com and join in the fun!

As the summer begins its last legs and we head back to our regular club meetings at the Life Journey Church, Who-Net wraps up its summer events with THE 2012 WHOOSIER NETWORK "Whoosiers Assemble!" PICNIC, to be held August 4th at Shelter House #4 at Garfield Park from 12:00 P.M. - whenever the park officials discover that we're trying to crossover into the Fringe alternate universe. Click on our Next Party link in the right hand lower corner for a map and details. We hope to see you all there!

Who-Net is InCon Bound this Friday!

Mark C. Dooley, De Boss of the Whoosier Network here, and I'm really excited about our upcoming appearance at InConJunction next Friday, July 6-8, at the Indianapolis Mariott East, 7202 East 21st Str. I plan on having the Who-Net/Doctor Who room open by noon, and while we may still be putting a few things together, we will kick off our video program on time. And we could always use a hand with our set up.

We'll be picking up where we left off last year midway with the Sixth Season and the Doctor's search for Melody Pond. And though we have fewer new episodes this year, that gives us the room to run great Who classics (i.e.: the restored version of "The Daemons", the entire E-Space saga with Tom Baker, and Paul McGann's TV-movie, which I firmly believe was the seed that brought back the series in 2005), the original unaired pilot of Steven Moffat's Sherlock, and the entire Torchwood: Miracle Day series over Friday and Saturday evening (mature themes and sexual situations: parental discretion is advised). In between, we have loads of special features, documentaries, panel discussions, our fantastic trivia game show "Are You Smarter Than a Sci-Fi Geek?", and our fabulous doorprize drawing on Sunday at the noon hour! And I might even sneak in an unscheduled surprise or two...

It's hard to believe it's that time again, but yep, the Whoosier Network will be descending on INCONJUNCTION July 6th at the Mariott East, 7202 East 21st Str., Indianapolis, IN! We'll once again be located right at the entrance of the Atrium, first room on the left (the only one with a TARDIS standing across from it!), and what a weekend it's going to be! We'll be taking up from where we left off last summer with the good Doctor in his search for Melody Pond/A.K.A. River Song and follow his quest right through to the Series Six finale, as well as enjoying last year's Christmas special "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe".

Hope you all had a terific holiday weekend, and we're just gonna keep that up this coming weekend with another spectacular meeting of the Whoosier Network, 6:30 PM this Friday at the Life's Journey Church, 2950 55th Place, Indianapolis, IN. The much-delayed Gallifreyan Gazette will be available (with a terrific Olympic-themed cover) with the latest news on Doctor Who events, as well as the latest news on your favorite sci-fi TV shows and films. And with the sixth series finally at an end, we'll be taking a trip back to the heyday of the Fourth Doctor:

DOCTOR WHO with Tom Baker: "Destiny of the Daleks"

February has arrived, and we're just one month away from the relaunch of regular Whoosier Network meetings in March. Meanwhile, this Friday will see another open gathering of Who-Netters, February 3rd 6:30 PM at the Life Journey Church, 2950 55th Place, Indianapolis, IN! There'll be games, cool DW merch, lively conversation and fellowship, and the best Doctor Who fans in the world! See you there!
